We eat quite a lot of pasta, but nothing like proper
Italians who are likely to complain if they don't get it at least once
per day.
We tend to stock up on the shapes that take our fancy.
On the whole, it's not so crucial exactly which shape you use, as long
as it's roughly similar. For example, fettuccine and spaghetti are more
or less interchangeable, although some sauces will go better on a flat
ribbon than a string! Also, identical pasta from different manufacturers
is often called different names.
